Sawtry Dental Practice
Dentures With Complete Freedom
Denture stabilisation is a simple but effective solution that makes the frustrations of loose fitting dentures a thing of the past.
Even the most beautifully crafted dentures can become loose fitting and cause real frustration for their wearers, making them feel self-conscious about talking or smiling, and unable to eat ‘tricky’ foods like apples or steak. At Sawtry dental, we offer dental stabilisation to tackle this problem and transform the lives of denture wearers.

How It Works?
Denture stabilisation is a straightforward and highly effective solution for those who struggle with loose or uncomfortable dentures. Using the very latest techniques, two or more dental implants are carefully and securely placed into your jawbone. Your existing dentures are then precision-fitted and locked onto these implants, anchoring them firmly in place so they stay exactly where they should be, at all times.
Because your dentures are held securely in position, you can get back to living life to the full. Enjoy all the foods you love, speak with confidence, and smile freely, without ever having to worry about your dentures slipping or moving.
Denture stabilisation is a simple, cost-effective option suitable for many denture wearers, and at Sawtry Dental, it is carried out by our experienced and friendly dental team. We will be happy to discuss whether this treatment is right for you, carrying out a thorough assessment of your teeth, gums, and existing dentures before recommending the best course of action.

What Is Denture Stabilisation?
Denture stabilisation is a long-term solution for those patients looking to enjoy the security and confidence that comes with a firmly anchored denture. The treatment involves placing two or more dental implants directly into the jawbone, which then act as stable anchors to hold your denture firmly in place.
Unlike traditional dentures, which can shift or slip during everyday activities, implant-stabilised dentures are designed to stay in place, giving you complete peace of mind whether you are eating, speaking or smiling. With no risk of movement, gum soreness caused by an ill-fitting or loose denture becomes a thing of the past.
Beyond comfort and security, denture stabilisation also delivers excellent aesthetic results and a significant improvement in bite strength allowing patients to eat the foods you enjoy, without hesitation or worry.

Procedure For Denture Stabilisation
Initial Consultation
Your journey begins with a comprehensive oral examination. This includes dental X-rays or, where required, a 3D CBCT scan, along with a review of your medical history. Your dentist will carefully assess your bone density and the overall condition of your mouth to determine whether dental implants are a suitable option for you.
Treatment Planning
If you are a good candidate for denture stabilisation, a personalised treatment plan will be created. This will take into account the number of implants required, typically two to six per arch, as well as the most appropriate type of denture system for your needs.
Implant Placement
The implants are placed under local anaesthetic, with sedation available for those who prefer it. During this procedure, small titanium implants are carefully inserted into the jawbone. A healing period of three to six months then follows, during which the implants gradually fuse with the surrounding bone.
Denture Modification
During healing: Temporary dentures may be modified to avoid pressure on implants. After healing: Existing dentures may be retrofitted, or new ones fabricated to attach to implants.
Attachment of Denture to Implants
Once healing is complete: Small connectors (locators or abutments) are attached to implants. Denture is fitted with matching housings that “snap” onto the implants for a secure fit.
