The Fastest, Most Flexible Way To Refresh Your Smile

Composite bonding is where a tooth-coloured resin composite is sculpted and bonded to the tooth. It is a minimally invasive, cost effective technique and can be completed in as little as one appointment. It has many advantages when compared to traditional ceramic restorations.

Tailor made right there in the surgery, this provides not only great flexibility on the final appearance but fantastic results in as little as a day.

As the composite resin material bonds to the tooth there’s minimal need, or usually no need at all, to drill or shave any of the tooth surface, making composite bonding a minimally invasive (and reversible) way of improving the appearance of your smile.

Composite bonding could be the perfect fast, pain free and effective treatment for you.

Transform Your Smile!

What Is Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding is a transformative dental procedure that’s all about enhancing your smile quickly and effectively.

Composite is the material we’ve used for white fillings for many years. What’s changed is the quality of the materials and how we use them.

Newer composites have become incredibly beautiful and indistinguishable from real teeth, making composite bonding a fantastic choice if you’re looking to address various dental imperfections without undergoing extensive dental work.

Whether you have chips or worn edges that distract from your smile, gaps that you feel self-conscious about, stains that teeth whitening can’t address, or you want to add length to short teeth, composite bonding is here to offer a solution.

Why Composite Bonding Treatment?

Composite bonding is an effective solution for several common dental concerns, helping to enhance your smile with minimal discomfort and downtime. Here’s how it can help:

Chipped or Cracked Teeth

Bonding can quickly restore the shape and function of teeth that have been chipped or cracked, blending seamlessly with the rest of your smile.

Gaps Between Teeth

If you have small spaces between your teeth, bonding can close them up for a more even, natural-looking smile.

Discolouration

Bonding can mask stains or discolouration, giving your teeth a brighter, more uniform appearance.

Uneven Teeth

Composite bonding can reshape teeth that are slightly misaligned, uneven, or disproportionate to enhance the overall appearance of your smile.

What Does The Treatment Involve?

We start by cleaning the tooth and drying the site where the composite will be placed. Using a special gel, we prepare the tooth surface for the composite bonding material to adhere to

We match the composite material to the natural shade of your tooth, or your desired new shade, and apply it in layers, gradually building up the correct shape. It is then cured under a UV light.

We polish the composite bonding material, leaving it looking glossy and smooth. We provide you with some advice on how to care for your tooth and leave you to show off your new smile!

Benefits of Composite Bonding

Aesthetic Improvement

Composite bonding can fix chips, cracks, gaps, and discoloration, giving you a more even and attractive smile. The resin is matched to your natural tooth color for a seamless look.

Minimally Invasive

Unlike treatments such as veneers or crowns, little to no removal of natural tooth structure is required. This makes it a more conservative option.

Quick Procedure

The treatment is usually completed in a single visit, often within 30–60 minutes per tooth.

Cost-Effective

Composite bonding is generally more affordable compared to other cosmetic treatments like porcelain veneers or orthodontics.

Composite Bonding or Veneers?

There is no one-size-fits-all solution in cosmetic dentistry. This comparison is designed to give you a clear, honest overview of composite bonding and veneers so you can choose the option that feels right for you.

Composite Bonding

  • Usually minimal or no tooth preparation
  • Often reversible
  • Tooth-coloured composite resin material
  • 5–7 years on average (with good care)
  • More prone to staining over time
  • Usually completed in one visit

Veneers

  • Requires removal of a thin layer of enamel
  • Irreversible once enamel is removed
  • Porcelain or ceramic material
  • 10–15+ years (with good care)
  • Highly stain-resistant
  • Typically 2–3 visits

Lee was my dentist when he worked in a surgery in Sandy. When he left I became a patient at his new surgery even though it means a 40 minute drive each way. This is a decision I've never regretted as he is an excellent dentist and his team are wonderful. Thanks to you all!

I’ve been coming to Sawtry Dental for regular check-ups and recently underwent Smilelign teeth straightening, and I honestly couldn’t be happier. The whole team are so attentive, caring and friendly, the lovely nurses, super hygienist, everyone always makes you feel at ease and all services second to none. Dr Lee is incredibly thorough and takes the time to explain everything properly, which makes such a difference. The surgery itself is immaculately clean and I’ve never struggled to make an appointment, whether regular or emergency (after a bad hospital wisdom tooth extraction). Amazing service all round and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone 🙂

I recently visited Sawtry Dental Surgery and had a several fillings carried out by Dental Therapist Eleanor, and I couldn`t be happier with the experience. She was extremely professional, friendly, and made me feel completely at ease through the treatment. Everything was explained clearly, and quality of her work was outstanding. The whole visit was calm, comfortable, and stress-free. I am genuinely very happy with the results and would highly recommend Eleanor from Sawtry Dental Surgery.
